Varanasi: A 23-year-old man, accused of killing his wife and hiding her body in a trolley suitcase in Silvassa (capital of Dadra and Nagar Haveli), was arrested from the city on Monday, two months after the crime.The accused, Rishabh Kumar Singh, resident of Siur village under Roh police station in Nawada district of Bihar, was arrested by the STF Varanasi unit and Silvassa Police from Chandpur Industrial Estate in the Manduadih area. Police said he had been working as a labourer in a factory with a different identity.According to STF officials, the body of Chhoti Upadhyay, 20, was recovered on Aug 3 from a rented room in the Tokarkhada area of Silvassa. The body, believed to be around two months old, was found inside a trolley suitcase wrapped in plastic in the bathroom. The incident came to light when the landlord broke open the room to rent it out to someone who noticed foul smell.Police said Chhoti, who was already married, left her first husband and went to to Dadra and Nagar Haveli with Rishabh. The two got married in Silvassa. An abduction case of elopement had earlier been registered against Rishabh at Roh police station in Bihar.During questioning, Rishabh told police that after their marriage, Chhoti was pressing him to return to their village. On Jun 9, the two had an argument, following which he strangled her. He tied the body with a rope, packed it in a trolley suitcase and fled to Varanasi.Acting on intelligence inputs, the STF Varanasi unit and Silvassa Police arrested him at Chandpur Industrial Estate. He was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s court and taken to Dadra and Nagar Haveli by Silvassa Police on transit remand.
