Bengaluru’s parks set for volunteer-driven green push

Bengaluru: City’s parks are set to see a new wave of citizen action under #IamBengaluru – Volunteer for Parks, an initiative by The Times of Indiaand presented by Multigen, this week. The first activity begins today, followed by a larger volunteering drive across Bengaluru Sunday. Organised with NGO partners Adamya Chetana Foundation, Youth for Seva and Women of Wisdom, the initiative will bring citizens together for park clean-ups, gardening, greening and other community-led activities.Through #IamBengaluru platform, Bengalureans can discover activities, reserve a spot and volunteer. The initiative aims to turn the city’s volunteering spirit into sustained civic action, while improving public green spaces.Shweta Urs, president, Women of Wisdom, said: “We encourage every citizen to volunteer, even if it is for just a few hours. Small acts of service, when multiplied across thousands of citizens, can create lasting change. If citizens, communities, organisations and institutions come together with a shared purpose, this movement can inspire a culture where protecting public spaces becomes a way of life. Together, we can make Bengaluru a cleaner, greener, and more liveable city. With activities now moving from intent to action, #IamBengaluru is inviting residents to give a few hours to the parks they use and value.
