Bengaluru: A 36-year-old man filed a complaint with Vidhana Soudha police, accusing four men of duping him of Rs 26 lakh after promising him a job of panchayat development officer with rural development and panchayat raj department.GK Raghunandan, senior manager with a private gold firm in Whitefield, told police he met the main suspect, Santosh Hosamani, in Dec 2024, and Hosamani told him he works with the department of personnel and administrative reforms and has good connections in Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) and with staff working in different ministries. Santosh promised to get Raghunandan a PDO’s job for Rs 50 lakh.Accordingly, Raghunandan first paid Rs 10 lakh in cash to Santosh in the second week of Dec 2024. Then, at different intervals, the Hoskote resident paid Rs 16 lakh more to Santosh.With no sign of a job offer letter, Raghunandan started putting pressure on Santosh. “A person claiming to be one Rao called me from KPSC office landline, saying my PDO job was guaranteed. He called me three more times from different landline numbers, assuring me the job,” Raghunandan’s complaint read.However, as he did not receive an appointment letter and Santosh started avoiding him, Raghunandan realised he was cheated and filed the complaint. Besides Santosh, police booked a cheating case against Rao, Mahesh Kumar and Basavaraj.
