Lucknow: The Lucknow Development Authority has proposed 12 flood pumping stations between IIM Road and Kisan Path to tackle waterlogging in areas along the Gomti during heavy rain and rising river levels.A survey by LDA identified locations where rainwater accumulates and affects drainage when the river level rises. LDA submitted its report to state govt, identifying sites for the proposed pumping stations along the Green Corridor.The proposed locations include IIM intersection, Cattle Colony in Basant Kunj Scheme, near Gau Ghat bridge, Sector 7 of Gomti Nagar Extension, Ghaila in Prabandh Nagar Scheme, Sitapur Bandha Road, near Ekana Stadium, near CG City drain, Bakkas in IT City, Chaurasi and Noorpur Behta in Wellness City and near Kisan Path.Of these, eight will have a capacity of 400 kilolitres, while four will have a capacity of 600 kilolitres. The project costs Rs 148.87 crore.LDA vice-chairperson Prathamesh Kumar said, “Construction will be taken up by LDA and Lucknow Municipal Corporation after govt approval.”The stations on key stretches along Gomti will cover areas that witnessed waterlogging during heavy rainfall and high river levels. LDA said the project intends to improve the city’s preparedness for similar flooding and waterlogging situations in future.
