Lucknow: Bahraich Police, along with the district Surveillance Cell, recovered 107 lost mobile phones worth ₹26.12 lakh and returned them to their owners as part of an ongoing drive against crime and cyber offences. The recovered devices included smartphones from Apple, Samsung, Vivo, Oppo, Redmi and OnePlus.Superintendent of police Vishwajeet Srivastava said the recoveries were made using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal, a govt platform that helps trace and block lost or stolen phones through their IMEI numbers. He said the Surveillance Cell coordinated with police stations across the district and kept track of complaints filed on the portal, enabling teams to locate the devices and complete verification.The phones were handed over during a programme attended by CO Lines Tanishk R Jamkar (IPS) and other police personnel. Owners who received their devices expressed gratitude to the police for the effort.Srivastava urged residents to promptly report missing phones via the CEIR portal and the Sanchar Saathi app, advising them to keep the IMEI number, purchase bill and identification documents ready. He also announced rewards for Surveillance Cell staff and recovery teams.
