Kolkata: A 26-year-old fuel pump attendant, Subhankar Patra, suffered serious head injuries after he was allegedly assaulted by a customer and two of his associates at a petrol pump in Manicktala on Sunday night. Patra, a resident of Dum Dum Road, was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. According to a complaint filed by Samir Kumar Mullick, owner of Manicktala Service Station, a customer arrived at the pump, refuelled his vehicle and made a digital payment at 10.06 pm. After the fuel was provided and the payment was completed, the customer allegedly claimed that no fuel had been filled in his vehicle.When Patra tried to explain that the fuel is already in his tank, the customer became aggressive and created a disturbance. He then called two associates to the spot. The situation soon turned violent. The customer allegedly restrained Patra and assaulted him. Witnesses said Patra was hit hard on the head, causing a deep bleeding injury. The accused also allegedly tried to snatch cash from the attendant before fleeing.Amherst Street Police have registered a case of wrongful restraint, assault and attempted theft.
