Another woman dies after childbirth at JK Lon Hospital in Kota | Jaipur News

Kota: A second woman aged 25 died at Kota’s JK Lon Hospital Tuesday after giving birth, just a day after a 34-year-old woman lost her life after delivery Monday. The deceased, identified as Karina (25), wife of Amir Khan and a resident of Kaithun area, died Tuesday morning shortly after a Caesarean section to deliver twin babies Monday evening around 6pm.“Her blood pressure initially was normal in the earlier months of pregnancy, but upon arrival at our facility, it significantly elevated,” said Superintendent, JK Lon Hospital, Dr Nirmala Sharma. Medical records indicated that Karina had been prescribed blood pressure medication since seventh month of pregnancy—a detail the patient was unaware of, she added.Karina had a previous delivery via C-section. Pre-surgical blood test results showed blood count abnormalities linked to high blood pressure, indicating impaired liver and kidney function parameters. After delivery Karina spoke normally with her family members Monday night. However, around 3:30am Tuesday, her condition suddenly worsened when she had two episodes of vomiting accompanied by acute anxiety, rapid breathing, severe jerks, and tongue-biting.Dr Sharma said the patient suffered from postpartum eclampsia. During the seizures, vomit entered her lungs, causing a steep drop in blood oxygen saturation from 86% to 62%, along with a fall in blood pressure. “We administered necessary medications, and summoned specialists. However, despite all efforts, we could not save her,“ said Dr Sharma.Meanwhile, Karina’s husband alleged her condition began deteriorating after she was administered a fluid.
