Anand resident additional collector Ketki Vyas denied bail in disproportionate assets case

Ahmedabad: A city sessions court has denied regular bail to Anand resident additional collector (RDC) Ketki Vyas, who was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for having disproportionate assets worth Rs 3.6 crore beyond her known sources of income. The ACB accused Vyas under the Prevention of Corruption Act, alleging that during her tenure as RAC at Anand from April 2012 to March 2023, she misused her position as a public servant and acquired movable and immovable properties by illegal means.Vyas sought bail after the filing of a chargesheet against her and stated there is no possibility of her influencing the investigation, but the prosecution opposed it.After the hearing, additional sessions judge B B Jadav rejected the bail plea and said, “From the chargesheet papers, prima-facie it appears that the applicant-accused has played crucial role in commission of alleged offence… Hence, this court restrains itself from exercising its discretionary power to enlarge the applicant-accused on regular bail.”
