MUMBAI: Police questioned a 14-year-old boy following an alleged argument outside a Cuffe Parade building after he was purportedly refused drinking water by its security guard early on Thursday.A police constable on patrol duty was told by a guard, Suraj Chaudhary (21), that a boy had been detained for causing trouble. The constable took both of them to Cuffe Parade police station. The questioning revealed that the boy, from Ambedkar Nagar in Cuffe Parade, was returning home with friends and asked the guard for water around 2am. The guard refused and an altercation allegedly ensued. The boy sustained a head injury.Since the boy has no parents and needed medical aid, he was admonished and handed over to his grandmother. No complaint was filed. A search for the other boys yielded no results.Dr Laura Dsouza, president of Cuffe Parade Residents Association, said housing societies in the area had let slum residents take water from their common use taps during the pandemic as a goodwill gesture. She alleged that the boys pelted stones after being denied entry.
