Ahmedabad: A 25-year-old woman from Vastrapur has accused her former boyfriend of using their compromising images as his display picture and threatening to circulate them online after she refused to marry him. The 29-year-old accused is a native of Kangra in Himachal Pradesh.According to the complaint filed on Thursday, the accused allegedly sent pictures of him and the woman in compromising positions to her phone late on June 12 and also used some as his messaging app account’s display picture, making them visible to others.She said the man pressured her to marry him. When she refused, he allegedly threatened to kill her, circulate the photographs and make sure she would be unable to marry anyone else, police said. An officer said the woman submitted screenshots of the messages, photographs and other digital evidence to support her allegations. A friend of hers has been cited as a witness in the FIR.Police said they will examine the mobile phones, messaging records and other electronic evidence. The accused faces charges of criminal intimidation and offences against a woman’s dignity through electronic communication under the BNS and the Information Technology Act.
