Murder accused caught in encounter in Azamgarh

Varanasi: Police arrested a man accused of killing a youth and injuring his friends during a wedding ceremony. The accused was arrested after suffering a bullet injury in the leg during an exchange of fire.CO (Lalganj) Bhupesh Pandey on Thursday said that during a wedding party on Tuesday evening, Ajit Yadav killed Paritosh Rajbhar and injured his friend Otu Rajbhar in Dandwal village under Menhnajpur police station area. Late Tuesday night, manhunt was launched to nab Yadav, who fled after the murder.Around 1.40 am, during night patrol, Mehnajpur police noticed motorcycle-borne persons near Karsada canal they tried to stop the motorcycle. Pandey said that on seeing police, the accused tried to flee but his bike slipped. When policemen surrounded him, Yadav opened fire and in retaliatory action, he suffered a bullet injury in the leg and was caught.Ajit Yadav alias Bhanta, 29, is resident of Dandwal. After recovering a country-made pistol, cartridges and a motorcycle, police rushed him to the hospital. During questioning, he admitted attacking Paritosh and Otu. Seven cases, including murder, Arms Act, NDPS Act, assault and rioting, are registered against the accused with police. Search for the other accused persons in this case continued.On Tuesday evening, a dispute broke out over food during the wedding ceremony and Yadav and his accomplices attacked Paritosh and Otu with sticks. Paritosh died during treatment. On the complaint of his wife, Chandrakala, a case was registered at Menhnajpur police station.
