2 Hry men booked for impersonation in PSSSB recruitment exam

TNNLudhiana: More than three months after two “impersonators” were allegedly caught writing a Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board (PSSSB) recruitment examination on behalf of original candidates, the Ludhiana police registered a cheating case against the two Haryana-based aspirants.As per police, the case pertains to the Group D recruitment examination conducted by the Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board (PSSSB) on April 5 this year. The School of Eminence in Sekhewal was one of the designated examination centres.The police complaint suggests that the centre superintendent and principal, Naresh Kumar, detected during verification that two unidentified persons were “appearing” in the examination in place of the original candidates. It added that he immediately submitted a written complaint to the police.Following a departmental inquiry, the Daresi police registered a case under Sections 318(4) (cheating) and 3(5) (common intention related) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).The accused included Bijender, a resident of Neem Ka Chautra in Hisar district of Haryana, and Ankush of Bathmara village in Haryana.The cops said the two accused candidates allegedly arranged for dummy candidates to write the examination on their behalf in an attempt to secure govt jobs fraudulently. The impersonators were allegedly detected and apprehended at the examination centre, and legal proceedings have been initiated against them.The investigation has been entrusted to ASI Sukhdev Singh, who is now working to identify and trace the “impersonators”.SHO Daresi police station Inspector Jaswinder Singh suggested that the case is at an initial stage and after investigation the persons, who were allegedly appearing on behalf of the candidates will be known. He added that the complainant in the case would have details of the persons who were allegedly caught while appearing in the examination on behalf of two candidates.A police officer said that they will also probe to ascertain whether a larger examination fraud racket was involved.Can be added as box:March 2026: A 24-year-old woman was arrested after she was allegedly caught impersonating a candidate during the Class X Punjabi language examination. The accused was allegedly appearing for the exam on behalf of her friend when invigilators detected the “impersonation” and alerted the police.In Aug 2023: A Ferozepur resident was nabbed for appearing in the Punjab Subordinate Staff Selection Board (PSSSB) Clerk Exam in place of his friend. The accused was handed over to the police, and an FIR was lodged.
