Heavy rain forecast pushes TAT-HS main exam to Aug 8

Ahmedabad: The Gujarat State Examination Board (GSEB) has postponed the Gujarati-medium main examination of the Teacher Aptitude Test (Higher Secondary) 2026 in view of forecasts of heavy to very heavy rainfall across the state.The examination, originally scheduled for Aug 2, will now be conducted on Aug 8. The decision was taken after considering weather warnings issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), representations from candidates and guidance from the state govt.In an official notification, the board stated that all other provisions of the earlier announcement will remain unchanged. There will be no change in the examination timings or centres, and candidates can appear using their existing hall tickets. No fresh admit cards will be issued.The TAT for recruitment of higher secondary teachers in Gujarat is conducted in two stages, preliminary and main. The preliminary examination was an objective-type test carrying 200 marks. Of the 1,65,024 candidates registered across mediums, 1,47,520 appeared for the exam, while 17,504 remained absent.After the results were declared, 51,971 candidates qualified for the main examination, including nearly 50,066 candidates from the Gujarati medium.
