Ahmedabad: The death toll in the blast and fire at a chemical manufacturing unit in Naroda GIDC Phase III rose to two on Tuesday after another injured worker succumbed to injuries during treatment.The victim, identified as Madhur Parmar, suffered severe burn injuries in the explosion that occurred four days ago at MSN Intermediates Pvt Ltd. He was undergoing treatment at a city hospital when he died, police said.The accident occurred on Friday afternoon when a boiler allegedly exploded inside the factory, triggering a fire and injuring four workers. Earlier, one of the injured workers, Ramesh Mulji Parmar, died during treatment. With Madhur Parmar’s death, the toll has now increased to two.Following news of his death, family members reached the factory premises in Naroda GIDC and demanded action against the company management.The family sought compensation and accountability from the company management, alleging that necessary precautions were not taken despite the risks involved in chemical manufacturing.Police are continuing their probe into the cause of the blast and whether the unit was complying with prescribed industrial safety rules. Officials said further action, if required, will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
