Ahmedabad: Gujarat University police have registered a case against two men for allegedly obstructing police personnel while they were carrying out security arrangements for a programme attended by the chief election commissioner (CEC) at the JB Auditorium of Ahmedabad Management Association (AMA) on IIM Road on Thursday evening.According to a complaint filed by head constable Anoopsinh Bhupatsinh on Friday, police personnel had been deployed at the venue since 2pm as the chief election commissioner, who is provided Z-plus security cover, was scheduled to leave after the event.The complaint states that at around 6.15pm, a police team reached IIM Road near the venue and found two men standing on the public road near Apang Manav Mandal and raising slogans.Police officials allegedly asked the duo to stop raising slogans and move to the side of the road to avoid inconvenience to motorists and pedestrians. However, the two men allegedly refused to comply and deliberately moved to the middle of the road, obstructing police personnel engaged in security-related duties.According to the complaint, when police directed the duo to accompany them to the police station in a govt vehicle, they allegedly refused and continued to hinder the officials in the discharge of their duties. Police subsequently used necessary force to place them in the vehicle and take them to the police station.The accused were identified as Jaysinh Thakor (24), a resident of Asarwa, and Shubham Thakor (21), a resident of Sarkhej.
