Noida: Stray cattle are frequently spotted in sectors 122, 116 and 119 in Noida, and Beta-1, Gamma-1 and Delta in Greater Noida, as overgrown monsoon shrubs and grass along roadsides and in parks draw the animals in. Residents claim cattle are often found resting in the middle of roads, disrupting vehicle and pedestrian movement.“The stray animal menace in Sector Beta-1 has been steadily increasing for quite some time. The strays have also attacked residents and posed a risk of accidents, making it unsafe for people to step out,” said Harinder Bhati, RWA general secretary of Sector Beta-1, Greater Noida.Bhati has written to GNIDA urging prompt action, including relocating strays from roads, conducting regular population-control drives, stepping up surveillance in areas with high concentrations of stray animals, and putting in place a permanent solution to prevent recurrence.“There is significant increase in movement of stray cattle especially Sectors 121, 122, 119, 116, etc. While they encroach on the roads, commuters face a trying time navigating between broken, pothole-ridden roads and stray cattle,” said Dinesh Singh, a resident of Sector 121.Residents also flagged the danger posed by open drains, particularly near Ryan International School in Sector Beta-1, where a drain filled with sewage and garbage poses a risk to schoolchildren and pedestrians.
