Hyderabad: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths arrested an administrative officer (AO) at Ibrahimpatnam revenue divisional office (RDO) in a disproportionate assets (DA) case on Thursday and unearthed Rs 50 crore worth of assets allegedly belonging to the accused. With the latest case, the accused officer has been booked twice in DA cases by ACB since 2009. It is learnt that govt recommended departmental action against him as punishment in the first case.ACB teams conducted simultaneous searches at seven places linked to the accused officer, Desani Srinivas Reddy (61), a tahsildar, currently working as a DAO at Ibrahimpatnam. The searches were conducted at his house in Karmanghat, office in Ibrahimpatnam and five other places belonging to his relatives, associates and others.During the searches, ACB sleuths allegedly unearthed several assets belonging to the accused officer, including two flats at Karmanghat, a G+3+Penthouse building on a 233-square-yard plot at Karmanghat, 10 acres and eight guntas of agricultural land at Nallavelly village in Yacharam mandal of Rangareddy district and eight plots in the city and outskirts.He also invested Rs 86 lakh as his share of investment in a bar & restaurant at Balapur, and has Rs 4 lakh in cash, a bank balance of Rs 8.6 lakh, 680 grams of gold ornaments, three cars, two two-wheelers, vehicles worth Rs 59 lakh, and household articles and electronic gadgets worth Rs 11 lakh. “The accused has also availed a gold loan by pledging 46 tola gold with the bank. Further verification regarding additional assets is underway. The documentary value of unearthed assets is estimated to be Rs 6.87 crore and their market value will be much higher at around Rs 50 crore,” an ACB officer said.Prior to this, on Dec 14, 2009, while the accused officer was working as mandal revenue inspector at Maheshwaram tahsildar office, a DA case was registered against him.“As he acquired disproportionate assets by indulging in corrupt practices and dubious means during his service, a case was registered against the accused under Section 13(1)(b) r/w 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act,” ACB alleged. The accused has been arrested. He would be produced before an ACB court for judicial remand on Friday.
