New Delhi: After questioning the locus standi of the defence in the Aastha Kunj gang rape case, in which the counsel for two of the accused sought preservation and monitoring of CCTV footage outside their homes, a Delhi court Thursday remanded all three accused to 14 days’ judicial custody.Additional sessions judge Swati Sharma listed the matter for Oct 22.The counsel for brothers Mukesh and Hemant moved a plea urging police to preserve footage from the CCTV camera installed outside their home, submitting that it could help establish their entry and exit timings on the day of the incident.The prosecution and the additional public prosecutor questioned the defence’s locus standi, arguing that the incident happened in a public place and had nothing to do with the accused’s private residence.“They have no standing in giving direction as in how the investigation is to be carried out,” the prosecution said.On Sept 21, a girl and her male friend were walking through Aastha Kunj Park when the accused, posing as policemen, threatened the teenagers with a gun and a knife. They allegedly slapped the boy and sexually assaulted the girl.
