VinFast eyes India e2W market, signs up 50+ dealers
VinFast entered the Indian market in 2025 with electric cars and is now looking to tap the much larger two-wheeler market.

Chennai: Vietnamese electric vehicle maker VinFast is stepping up its India expansion beyond electric cars, preparing to enter the country’s fast-growing electric two-wheeler market with a network of more than 50 dealers across 34 cities in 15 states and Union territories. The company on Thursday signed Letters of Intent (LOIs) with its first 50-plus e-motorcycle dealer partners, marking the beginning of its dedicated electric two-wheeler distribution network in India. The move comes as VinFast is building its presence in the Indian electric vehicle market with manufacturing and assembly operations, including its planned manufacturing complex at Tuticorin in southern Tamil Nadu. The company had entered the Indian market in 2025 with electric cars and is now looking to tap the much larger two-wheeler market. The LOI signing ceremony was held at VinFast’s manufacturing complex in Hai Phong, Vietnam, during a visit by its prospective Indian dealer partners, according to a statement. The proposed network will span key markets including Delhi NCR, Rajasthan and Punjab in the north; Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh in central India; Maharashtra and Gujarat in the west; and Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh in the south. West Bengal and Odisha will form part of its eastern network. The company said the cities have large two-wheeler markets and offer significant potential for electrification.“India is one of the most important markets in VinFast’s global growth story, and this partnership reflects the scale of ambition we hold for the region,” said Vo Thi Cam Tu, managing director, VinFast E-Scooters Overseas Market.Anurag Saxena, CEO, VinFast India E-Scooters, said the company would simultaneously work on charging infrastructure and after-sales services as it expands its dealer network. Partnering with dealers across marks the beginning of the company’s journey to bring VinFast e-motorcycles across India, he added.India remains the world’s largest two-wheeler market, with 21.41 million two-wheelers registered in FY26. Electric two-wheelers, however, accounted for only 6.54% of registrations, highlighting the headroom for further electrification. For VinFast, the move into electric two-wheelers gives it an opportunity to broaden its India portfolio beyond cars and tap into a segment where electric mobility has already gained significant traction. The company’s India strategy is also expected to be supported by its manufacturing footprint in Tamil Nadu, as it seeks to establish the country as an important market in its global electric mobility expansion.
