4 operatives of foreign-based gangsters held with pistols | Chandigarh News



Mohali: The Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab, in a joint operation with Mohali police, busted a gangster module being operated by foreign-based handlers. Four accused were arrested and two foreign-made .30 calibre pistols, along with eight live cartridges, were recovered, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said on Monday.Those arrested were identified as Arman Singh of village Ugana in Patiala, Chirag of village Nalas Khurd in Patiala, Ravinder Singh alias Rahul of village Nalas Kalan in Rajpura, Patiala, and Akshay alias Prince of village Dhamoli in Patiala. Police also recovered a Honda Amaze car in which the accused were travelling. The DGP said preliminary investigations revealed that Akshay was involved in the July 2025 murder of a Wear Well showroom owner in Abohar, where he allegedly provided logistical support to the main assailants. He said investigation is underway in the case, and more arrests are likely in the coming days. AGTF ADGP Promod Ban said acting on a tip-off, a joint team set up checkpoints at strategic locations along the Ambala-Chandigarh highway. The accused were apprehended near the Janetpur link road during the operation.Mohali SSP Harmandeep Hans said the arrested operatives had been assigned tasks by their foreign-based handlers to execute major crimes in the state. He said their arrest has averted serious criminal incidents in the region. A case has been registered under Sections 111 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 25(6) and 25(7)(i) of the Arms Act at Police Station Derabassi in Mohali.
