Panchkula: The Panchkula police have issued an advisory directing vehicle owners to install high security registration plates (HSRP) and clear any obscured numbers by Oct 30, ahead of a major crackdown launching Nov 1.Starting Nov 1, police will penalise vehicles operating without number plates, displaying numbers hidden by mud or tape, using tampered plates, or lacking standard-compliant HSRPs.The drive aims to improve road safety and prevent criminals—particularly snatchers who deliberately cover registration numbers to avoid detection—from evading police action.Commissioner of police Pankaj Nain, during a review meeting on Friday, instructed traffic teams to keep strict vigil and act against violators. He noted that clear, standard-compliant plates are critical for establishing vehicle identity, maintaining law and order, and curbing crime.Following the directions, city traffic police and Surajpur traffic police teams conducted awareness drives across various areas, urging commuters to complete the installation before the deadline.
