Bicholim: Bicholim locals have urged govt to install CCTV cameras along the Bicholim river and nearby walking track to identify and catch people dumping garbage into the river at night.Local Dattaram Gaonkar said during his early morning walks, he saw people dumping garbage bags into the river.“Despite the Bicholim Municipal Council (BMC) collecting garbage from door to door every day, some people continue to throw garbage bags into the river. There is an urgent need to install CCTV cameras at strategic points along the walking track and the river to identify those responsible,” said Gaonkar.BMC officials said they will install CCTV cameras at specific locations to prevent such incidents and fine those found guilty of dumping waste into the river.Residents have urged authorities to take steps to protect the river from further pollution and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
