Retired station master booked for sharing child sexual abuse material

Rajkot: Gondal B Division police have registered a criminal case against Krishnakant Pandya, a retired railway station master, for allegedly possessing and transmitting child sexual abuse material through his mobile phone and social media accounts. The complaint was filed by assistant sub-inspector Bavku Khachar under Section 292 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Sections 67(A) and 67(B) of the Information Technology Act, and Sections 14(1) and 15 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.According to police, the case follows an alert from the Rajkot Cybercrime police, which allegedly detected objectionable photographs and videos being circulated through a Facebook profile and Messenger account registered in Pandya’s name. The investigation dates back to 2020, when Pandya was serving as the station master at Gondal railway station. Acting on cyber intelligence indicating the transmission of prohibited electronic content from his device, authorities seized his mobile phone and sent it to the forensic science laboratory (FSL) for examination. The proceedings were prolonged, with the forensic analysis taking approximately six years to conclude. Following the FSL’s recent confirmation of objectionable digital material on the seized device, police proceeded to register a first information report (FIR).Although Pandya has since retired from railway service, investigators are expected to examine the forensic findings, digital evidence and circumstances surrounding the alleged online distribution as part of the ongoing probe.
