Surat: A 33-year-old suspended constable wanted in an extortion case registered at Puna police station in city was arrested from Sasan Gir in Junagadh by a team of Surat city police on Saturday.Nayana Baraiya was traced through technical surveillance after police received information that she was staying at a resort in the Sasan Gir area. A team from Puna police station reached the location and apprehended her.An FIR was registered against Baraiya in July this year for extortion, criminal intimidation and other offences, along with a charge under Section 67 of the Information Technology Act. Historysheeter Kirti Patel, who was also named as an accused in the case, was arrested earlier.DCP Alok Kumar said Baraiya’s criminal record showed her involvement in several other cases registered with police stations in Bhavnagar district. These include cases related to criminal intimidation, assault and prohibition offences.“There are six cases against Baraiya with Bhavnagar police while one case has been registered against her in Surat. We produced her before the court and have been granted one day of police custody,” Kumar said.
