However, the notification is not a final land acquisition order. Any further acquisition process will have to follow the applicable statutory procedure

Gurgaon: Haryana govt has begun the process of assessing the acquisition of 10.6 acres — or about 42,939.6 sq metres — of unacquired and unlicensed land required for 24-metre-wide roads in sectors 81 to 86 and sector 104. The identified parcels are spread across Nawada Fatehpur, Lakhnaula, Shikohpur, Sihi, Badha and Dhanwapur villages. The state’s urban estates department, through a notification issued on Sept 30, has ordered a social impact assessment (SIA) for the identified land falling in the proposed road alignments in the Gurgaon-Manesar Urban Complex (GMUC). The notification says the land is needed, or is likely to be needed, for the public purpose of acquiring land for the roads.Haryana State Industrial & Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) has been appointed the SIA unit and will conduct the study and prepare a social impact management plan. The HSIIDC study has to be completed within six months from publication of the notification in the official gazette. The exercise could strengthen road connectivity across New Gurgaon’s expanding residential belt. However, the notification is not a final land acquisition order. Any further acquisition process will have to follow the applicable statutory procedure. The notification initiates the statutory SIA process under Section 4(1) of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013.The proposed road links assume significance as New Gurgaon has emerged as one of the city’s major residential growth corridors, with large-scale development taking place across sectors 81-86 and adjoining areas. The 24-metre road alignments could add to the planned road network serving these developing sectors. The notification provides a detailed parcel-wise list of the killa/khasra numbers and the area falling within the 24-metre road alignment. Several sizeable pockets have been identified in the sector 84 and sector 86 areas. The schedule lists 3,336.3 sq metres in one pocket in sector 84, while another pocket in the same sector measures 2,369.4 sq metres. In sector 86, multiple parcels have been identified, including pockets measuring 2,363.4 sq metres and 1,375.8 sq metres, besides another measuring 1,239.5 sq metres. The notification lists a 4,794.7 sq-metre pocket, apart from parcels measuring 454.4 sq metres, 2,456.8 sq metres and 4,289.2 sq metres. Land in Dhanwapur has also been included in the schedule. Sector 104 also accounts for a significant portion of the proposed road-related land.
