Gorakhpur: BJP MP and actor Ravi Kishan on Wednesday said Gorakhpur and eastern UP had undergone a remarkable transformation in recent years, emerging as a destination for investment, industry and new opportunities.As keynote speaker at the TOI-UP Transformation Dialogues in Gorakhpur, he said the region, once associated with concerns over law and order and migration, was now witnessing growth in infrastructure, healthcare, education and industry.Recalling his visits to Gorakhpur for film shoots since 2004, Kishan said the city had changed significantly. “The difference between Gorakhpur of two decades ago and today is enormous,” he said, recalling a time when people were hesitated in displaying their prosperity because of security concerns.He attributed the change to improved roads, air connectivity and urban infrastructure under chief minister Yogi Adityanath. He highlighted efforts to tackle encephalitis and the role of AIIMS Gorakhpur in strengthening healthcare.Calling Purvanchal a hub of talent, Kishan cited cricketer Vishal Nishad as an example of young talent getting opportunities. He said the Nath tradition stood for social harmony and development reaching every section of society.He also praised development initiatives of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath, saying ongoing projects were creating opportunities for the region’s youth and future generations.BOX‘P is for ‘parivarvaad’, not Pandit’Speaking about the political discourse around the Brahmin community, BJP MP Ravi Kishan targeted the Samajwadi Party, Congress and PDM. “P does not stand for Pandit, but parivarvaad,” he said.Kishan said those speaking about the Brahmin community should first understand its tradition. He cited sage Dadhichi as an example of sacrifice and added that the tradition represented sacrifice, service and Sanatan values. His remarks came amid political outreach towards the Brahmin community ahead of the 2027 UP assembly election.
