Kolkata: A 33-year-old undertrial, who was lodged at Dum Dum Central Correctional Home, died at RG Kar on Monday night while in judicial custody in connection with a cyber fraud case.Shubhajit Chakraborty, a resident of Dum Dum, along with 18 others, was arrested by Bidhannagar Cyber Crime Police in connection to a fake call centre operation in Sector V on Sept 8.Chakraborty had been unwell for the past few days and was taken to RG Kar Hospital on Monday night after his condition deteriorated, police said. He died around 12.15 am.Bidhannagar subdivision court has ordered a magistrate’s inquiry into the death and directed the jail authorities to submit a medical report within seven days.His lawyer, Mosharaf Hossain, said Chakraborty was diabetic and the court had earlier directed the correctional home to provide necessary medical care. He was taken to the jail OPD on Sept 17.
