Kolkata: India Post will ferry OMR sheets and question booklets to the exam centres for the third-semester exams of Higher Secondary, scheduled to start on Monday.Mosiur Rahaman Sardar, president of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education, said they partnered with India Post to ensure the smooth transit of answer sheets and tighten security.Earlier, the question papers and answer sheets were sent via Indian Railways. Working with the local administration and council officials, question papers were delivered to the custodians, and on the day of every exam, the venue supervisor, under police protection, brought the question papers to the exam venues.This time, the entire process has been streamlined to be ferried by India Post, and before the exams, confidential material will be handed to the custodians at the nearest post offices.A total of 7.2 lakh candidates will appear for the third semester or first part of the Higher Secondary examinations, up from 6.6 lakh candidates last year. The exam will be held from 11 am to 12.30 pm at 2,105 venues. Each centre will have metal detectors for frisking candidates while entering.
