11 arrested after two families clash over marital dispute

Noida: Eleven people were arrested following a violent clash between two families in Sector 44, allegedly over a marital dispute between a couple. According to police, Nandini and Arjun tied the knot about a year ago, but their relationship has been strained since. On Tuesday, a discussion between the families escalated into a physical assault. Police registered cases on complaints from both sides and made the arrests later that night.According to police, disputes began between the two families soon after the wedding, and there were several verbal altercations between the two sides prior to this incident. Arjun allegedly clashed with Nandini as he suspected her of having an affair, police said.On Tuesday, the two families met outside the Kartik Kunj Society in Sector 44 with the intention of resolving the dispute through dialogue, but the situation deteriorated further. The verbal argument escalated to a physical fight between the two families. Sticks and batons began to fly, and stone-pelting ensued at the scene.The commotion outside the society alarmed the residents in the vicinity. Many residents witnessed the events from the balconies and windows of their homes.Videos of the clash, which began circulating on social media soon after, show a large crowd of people gathered on the side of the road. A few men are standing, holding long sticks and a cricket bat, staring down another party that is not in view. As commotion ensues, the men suddenly run down the street towards the other party, with sticks raised. There appears to be an altercation, after which the group of men return up the street.Sector 39 police station received information about the clash, and a police team arrived at the scene to pacify both parties. They recorded complaints from both sides, registered cases and, taking action, arrested a total of 11 people, including Arjun and Nandini.Further investigation and necessary legal proceedings are under way, police added.
