Panaji: Mapusa’s Industrial Training Institute (ITI) has earned a unique distinction with nine of its students appearing in the top-scorer list of the all-India trade test conducted at the national level under Union ministry of skill development.Earlier, only Kerala had seen six of its students with such top scores in a single year in the test. In the case of Goa, all the top scorers are from a single ITI.Also, Mapusa ITI student Rutuja Pednekar was declared west zone topper, scoring a full 600 marks in secretarial practice trade. She appeared in the all-India topper list of 52 students who had scored the best across all trades.“This achievement is the result of the consistent hard work, dedication and commitment of our instructors and trainees. Our instructors have gone beyond their routine teaching responsibilities by providing continuous guidance, conducting regular practice and mock tests, identifying the individual strengths and weaknesses of trainees, and motivating them to aim for excellence,” said Mapusa ITI principal Subhash Redkar.Skill development director Vinayak Kambli said that the ITIs have sustained focus on quality training. “These focused efforts have played an important role in creating an environment that encourages excellence and has contributed significantly to the outstanding achievements of trainees,” he said.Redkar also credited group instructor Narendra Onskar, secretarial practice instructor Saanvika Halarnkar, and employability skills instructor Riya Haldankar for the students’ performance.
