The higher education department on Wednesday wrote to JU VC Chiranjib Bhattacharjee, saying the state would provide Rs 250 crore as part of its share. It mentioned JU should write to the ministry of education for Rs 1,000 crore under the ‘Institute of Eminence’ tag. CM Suvendu Adhikari on Thursday also announced that Centre would pay Rs 1,000 crore and the state Rs 300 crore to make JU ‘Centre of Excellence’.
