Alliance Air flight seeks priority landing at Delhi after low oil pressure alert

Lucknow: An Alliance Air flight carrying 40 passengers sought priority landing at Delhi airport on Friday after pilots detected low oil pressure in the aircraft’s left engine during the approach, an airline official said.The flight, Alliance Air 9I-698, was operated by an ATR 72-600 aircraft with tail registration VT-AIU on the Bilaspur–Prayagraj–Delhi route. The Pilot-in-Command requested priority landing while inbound to Delhi after the low oil pressure indication appeared in the left-hand engine, the official said. The crew did not declare an emergency.There were 44 people on board, including 40 passengers and four crew members. The aircraft landed safely at Delhi airport and passengers deplaned normally, the official added.Flight records show VT-AIU is an 11-year-old ATR 72-600, delivered to Alliance Air in May 2015 and in service with the carrier since then.After the landing, the aircraft was taken for technical examination. An Alliance Air official said engineers were investigating the low oil pressure indication. The airline has not disclosed the cause of the indication or whether any left-engine component will require repair or replacement.Flight 9I-698 departed Prayagraj around 12.30 pm and landed in Delhi around 2.15 pm on Friday.
