Hyderabad: The monsoon session of the Telangana legislative assembly commencing on Monday is likely to be stormy with the Congress raising the issue of leader of the opposition K Chandrasekhar Rao’s resignation and the opposition BRS and the BJP preparing to corner the state govt on its failures on various fronts.Key issues ex[ected to come up for discussion are the alleged controversy surrounding the 22-A properties, the proposal to lower the age for contesting Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha and council elections, a resolution on which is to be sent to the Centre, fee reimbursement and 1000-days of the Congress govt’s performance compared to nearly-10 years of previous BRS govt’s tenure to name a few.While the BRS and BJP are gearing up to corner the govt on the apprehensions of the landowners on 22-A category lands, the ruling Congress led by chief minister A Revanth Reddy and revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy have said they will give a factual picture in the House and expose the lies of the opposition on the issue.On its part, the ruling Congress has been claiming that private properties were included on the prohibited list under the previous BRS rule itself.A couple of days ago, chief minister A Revanth Reddy went to the extent of asking why should not the leader of the opposition, K Chandrasekhar Rao be dismissed for not attending the assembly sessions and discussions in the house during the last 1000-days of the Congress govt. Later, he asked the party leaders to organise a dharna demanding resignation of KCR. The BRS is set to counter this with T Harish Rao already stating that KCR need not come to house to listen to the unparliamentary language of CM Revanth.The monsoon session is likely to see heated debates on the Congress government’s first 1,000 days in power and the 10-year rule of the previous BRS govt. While the ruling party is claiming a long list of welfare schemes and development projects as achievements, the opposition BRS and BJP have alleged Congress govt’s failures as not releasing fee reimbursement, not giving one tola gold as part of Kalyana Lakshmi and Shgaadi Mubarak, failed promises of giving scooties to the girl students, the pending Rs five lakh bharosa card for students, and the alleged merger of polytechnic with Young India Skills University.Meanwhile, council chairperson Gutha Sukender Reddy and assembly speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar had reviewed the arrangements being made for the session with senior officials on Saturday.
