Gurgaon: After light rain in some areas on Sunday, the city is likely to witness isolated showers on Monday. The city is then expected to remain largely dry for the next three days, according to India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) district-wise rainfall forecast issued on Sunday.The city received an average of 23.5 mm of rain in the 24 hours till 8.30am on Sunday, while the NorthCap University automatic weather station recorded 27mm. IMD’s Sunday forecast placed the city in the “many” category, indicating rainfall at 50% to 75% of reporting stations.On Monday, the city is likely to receive light rain at some places, with rain expected at up to 25% of reporting stations. Faridabad, Nuh and Palwal are also in the isolated category.The city’s minimum temperature on Sunday was 25.2 degrees Celsius, recorded at the Gurgaon automatic weather station, unchanged from Saturday. The maximum temperature was 28.1 degrees Celsius, 0.8 degrees Celsius higher than the previous day.Rainfall activity is expected to decline sharply from Tuesday. The city has been marked dry for Sept 8, 9 and 10, indicating that the current wet spell is likely to taper off after Monday.The shift to drier conditions is more pronounced across south Haryana. On Sept 8, rain is forecast mainly over northern districts, including parts of Panchkula, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra and Karnal, while most of the rest of the state, including Gurgaon, is marked dry. By Sept 9 and 10, the rainfall area is expected to contract further, with Gurgaon remaining in the dry zone.The forecast follows fairly widespread rain across the region on Sunday. Nuh recorded 49mm, the highest among the stations listed by IMD, followed by Chandigarh Airport at 28.4mm, NorthCap University at 27mm, Mandkola at 22.5mm and Faridabad at 12mm.
