BENGALURU: Food safety officials inspected an online retail facility in Mangaluru on Thursday following a consumer’s complaint that a worm was found inside an egg purchased through a quick-commerce platform, officials said.The consumer had complained to health minister UT Khader, alleging that some eggs bought online were damaged and that one of them contained a worm.Following the complaint, food safety officials inspected the online retail facility operating from Falnir Square in the city’s Falnir area, an official release said.During the inspection, officials found packets containing broken eggs at the facility. The concerned personnel were immediately instructed to remove and dispose of the affected packets, they said.As a precautionary measure and to facilitate thorough cleaning and sanitisation of the food storage area, the facility’s storage room was temporarily closed and sealed.The department said a notice would be issued to the establishment seeking an explanation regarding the incident. Further action will be taken based on the inspection findings and the response submitted by the facility management, officials added.(With inputs from PTI)
