Silchar: Security forces seized 10.891 kg of suspected brown sugar valued at Rs 80 crore and arrested one in Manipur’s Jiribam district.Acting on intelligence, Assam Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force, and Jiribam police conducted a joint operation at Makha Basti along JT Road on Wednesday.The team recovered 10 packets of suspected brown sugar, Rs 1,500 in cash and a mobile phone.Police have not yet disclosed the arrested person’s identity or the consignment’s origin and intended destination.The accused and seized items were handed over to the police for further investigation. A probe is underway to trace others involved in the trafficking network and determine possible inter-state or cross-border links.
