Bathinda: The Government Railway Police (GRP) have registered a rape case after a three-and-a-half-year-old girl was found near the railway tracks in Gidderbaha late Monday with injuries to her private parts.A doctor at the civil hospital said the child may have been sexually assaulted and remains under observation. Locals who spotted the girl brought her to the hospital. According to the police, she had been living with her mother, who separated from her husband some time ago.Sub-inspector Harjit Singh, SHO at the GRP police station in Abohar, said a case has been registered against an unidentified person. “We have obtained some leads and hope to arrest the suspect at the earliest,” he said.Punjab Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, who previously represented Gidderbaha in the state assembly, posted on social media: “The horrific incident involving a three-year-old girl in Gidderbaha has once again raised serious questions about the law and order situation in Punjab. The brutality against an innocent child, followed by her being thrown near a railway track, is deeply disturbing. The chief minister must answer: who is responsible for ensuring the safety of Punjab’s women and children?”
