Man on cycle takes eway, dies in hit and run

Gurgaon: A 23-year-old labourer died after an unidentified vehicle hit his bicycle from behind near on Gurgaon-Delhi Expressway near Naharpur Rupa on Saturday.The accident took place around 4am. The deceased, Akash Basor, was on his way to work when he was hit, his brother said in a police complaint.Police said Akash was rushed to Govt Hospital in Sector 10 after passersby informed them that a cyclist had met with an accident near a footbridge in the area and had suffered serious injuries to his head. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.Police searched the deceased and found a mobile phone, through which they contacted his family.Akash’s younger brother Dipen reached the hospital along with family members and identified the body. Dipen told police that Akash was originally from Panna district of Madhya Pradesh. He was living with his family in Islampur.In his complaint, Dipen alleged that the vehicle that hit him was being driven negligently, which caused the collision.Following the complaint, police registered a case under Sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (causing death due to negligence) of BNS at Sadar police station. Teams have been formed to identify the vehicle and trace the driver.Police have also initiated inquest proceedings under Section 194 of the BNSS.
