Bengaluru: A midnight operation to track down a suspected illegal arms maker took a dramatic turn when he attacked a constable with a sword and later hurled chilli powder at the police team in Somasundarapalya, Bangalore Urban district.Acting on a tip-off, Bandepalya inspector Manjunath RV deputed sub-inspector Sachin HR and constable Sandeep Kamble to trace Syed Zeeshan, 33, a resident of Subashnagar, Electronics City, who is suspected to be involved in arms making and supplying. Police also suspect him to be an associate of Adil Akmal and Syed Farhan, who were arrested in connection with the murder of medical store owner Suhail in Madiwala on Aug 22.The police team located Zeeshan near Somasundarapalya Lake around 12.40am Thursday. Zeeshan was riding a scooter, and when he noticed the cops, he allegedly took out a sword and attacked Kamble, causing injuries to his left hand.Sachin fired a warning shot in the air with his service pistol. Despite this, Zeeshan continued attacking the team and threw chilli powder at them. With the situation escalating, Sachin fired another round, hitting Zeeshan in his right leg. Zeeshan collapsed due to injuries.Both Zeeshan and constable Kamble were rushed to Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Trauma & Orthopedics Centre, Jayanagar, and are out of danger.Suhail hacked to death by a gang with lethal weapons while he was riding his Harley-Davidson bike along with a friend near Madiwala. The five persons arrested for the murder allegedly told police the weapons were supplied by Zeeshan.
