Villagers blow up 2 anti-poaching camps with gelatin sticks in Cauvery sanctuary

Bengaluru: Close on the heels of forest officials shooting dead three alleged poachers in Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary on Aug 15, tensions have escalated, with angry villagers and relatives of the deceased reportedly targeting anti-poaching infrastructure in retaliation.Sources in forest department told TOI at least two anti-poaching camps — Ollemarada Hatti and Budikere AP camps in Hanur division — were allegedly destroyed using gelatin sticks late Monday evening.The attacks reportedly came after five other camps were ransacked on Aug 15 itself. In one of the incidents, Minchinahalli AP camp in Kothanur division was allegedly blown up using gelatin sticks.
