New Delhi: A former security guard turned out to be the mastermind behind a theft at a restaurant in Dwarka. Police have arrested the 30-year-old man and recovered the stolen cash.According to the police, the incident was reported on Aug 10 from the restaurant in Dwarka Sector 20. Around Rs 1.4 lakh cash was found to have been stolen from the cash counter, police said. A case was registered under sections pertaining to theft under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Sector 23 Dwarka police station and a police team was formed to trace and apprehend the accused.“The team examined the CCTV footage installed in and around the vicinity of the place of occurrence. During scrutiny of the footage, a suspect, with his face covered with a cloth, was observed committing the theft,” said DCP (Dwarka) Kushal Pal Singh.Police identified the suspect as Sunil Rajat, a resident of Tikamgarh, MP.Rajat confessed to his involvement in the crime during interrogation, police said. The stolen cash was subsequently recovered from his possession. Police also found that he was previously involved in another case of theft at the Sector 23 Dwarka police station.
