Ghaziabad: A four-year-old boy died in hospital on Monday, five days after he was allegedly mauled by a pack of stray dogs at Nahal village.Masuri ACP Sunil Kumar said the boy, Aman Kumar, son of a local farmer, was attacked around 11.30 am on Aug 12 while playing with other children near his home. As the pack approached the group, the other children managed to flee, but Aman was surrounded and attacked.“Aman tried to escape, but the dogs bit him. The boy received more than 10 wounds before locals came to his rescue,” Kumar said. He was first taken to a nearby hospital for treatment before being referred to MMG Hospital in Ghaziabad, and later to GTB Hospital in Delhi for advanced care. Doctors declared him dead during treatment early on Monday, the ACP said.According to cops, the family declined an autopsy and did not seek further police action.The city has seen multiple stray dog attack cases this year. Last month, a 14-year-old boy died of rabies after he was bitten by his neighbour’s dog in Vijay Nagar.Data presented by Union govt in Parliament shows that UP recorded 1,91,361 dog-bite cases in 2022, 2,29,921 in 2023, 1,64,009 in 2024 and 20,478 in Jan 2025. Responding to an RTI query, UP medical department had recently shared that Ghaziabad administered around 10,000 anti-rabies vaccines between Jan 2024 and Sept 2025.
