Man held for luring woman with job, looting jewellery
Police recovered an illegal firearm, live and spent cartridges, a motorcycle, the looted jewellery and cash from his possession

Varanasi: Deogaon police in Azamgarh district arrested a wanted after an encounter late Monday night. Wanted in a case of duping a woman of jewellery by luring her with the promise of securing a job for her sonShameem, 36, used several aliases like Suraj, Mumtaz, Bablu Yadav and Sameer Ansari. He is a resident of DLW Jalalipatti, Manduadih police station area and presently residing in Nidhaura village, under Balua police station area of Chandauli district.Police recovered an illegal firearm, live and spent cartridges, a motorcycle, the looted jewellery and cash from his possession. The jeweller who purchased the stolen jewellery was also arrested, and one pair of earrings was recovered from him.Jeweller Dinesh Verma, 45, resident of Ward No. 12, Saidpur police station area, Ghazipur district, was also arrested for allegedly purchasing the looted jewellery.On Monday, Amit Pratap Singh, resident of Jiyasad village under Mehnagar police station, Azamgarh, complained to Deogaon police station unidentified persons took along his mother from Lalganj tehsil to Kerakat tehsil on the pretext of arranging a job for him and snatched her earrings and other jewellery.A case was registered at Deogaon police station under sections 304(2) and 317(2) of the BNS.During night patrol, a police team led by Deogaon SHO Sunil Kumar Singh, received information that a criminal carrying an illegal weapon was moving on a motorcycle towards the Palhana-Lahuwa road.On spotting a motorcycle rider coming from the Nasirpur side, police tried to stop him, but he attempted to flee. During the chase, his motorcycle lost balance and fell near Nasirpur culvert. The accused opened fire at the team and when police fired back, the accused was injured in the right leg. He was sent to the hospital in Lalganj.Following the arrest and recovery, another case was registered at Deogaon police station under sections 109(1), 351(3) of the BNS and sections 3/25/27 of the Arms Act. Further legal proceedings are underway.Items recovered include one country-made pistol of .315 bore, one live cartridge of .315 bore, two spent cartridges of .315 bore, one motorcycle bearing a Punjab registration number, a pair of gold ear support jewellery and Rs 850 cash.Lalganj CO Bhupesh Kumar Pandey said several criminal cases, including theft, fraud and Arms Act violations, are registered in Azamgarh, Varanasi and Chandauli against the man arrested.
