Mangaluru: Following directions from the commissioner of food, civil supplies and consumer affairs, the department’s Dakshina Kannada unit has directed beneficiaries receiving rations under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) to complete Aadhaar seeding and e-KYC by Sept 30.In Dakshina Kannada, fresh e-KYC is pending for 6,62,195 beneficiaries linked to 2,16,436 ration cards that have completed five years since their initial authentication. All fair price shops have been instructed to carry out the process on a mandatory basis. Beneficiaries who fail to complete e-KYC may face difficulties in receiving rations, the district deputy director of food, civil supplies and consumer affairs said in a press release.As per taluk-wise details of ration card, Bantwal has a large number of beneficiaries, who have completed five years since initial e-KYC authentication. The taluk has 1,41,923 across a total of 45,480 ration cards, who have to submit documents for re-e-KYC process.Regarding remaining taluks, officials stated that Belthangady taluk has 1,11,798 beneficiaries across 37,532 ration cards; Kadaba has 43,040 beneficiaries across 15,074 ration cards; Mangaluru has 1,16,437 beneficiaries across 38,364 ration cards; Moodubidire has 33,252 beneficiaries across 11,365 ration cards; 23,617 beneficiaries in 8,055 ration cards of Mulki taluk; 69,304 beneficiaries under 22,116 ration cards in Puttur; 41,630 beneficiaries of 14,247 ration cards in Sullia and 81,194 beneficiaries under 24,203 ration cards in Ullal will have to submit documents for re-e-KYC.The department has appealed to all beneficiaries to compulsorily visit their respective fair price shops to complete their e-KYC process. “It will be difficult for beneficiaries to avail ration items if they do not complete e-KYC before Sept 30,” a release from the department stated.
