SSB man suffers leg fractures after cab on wrong side rams bike

Gurgaon: A Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) member posted with the 25th Battalion in Ghitorni suffered fractures in both bones of his left leg after a taxi travelling on the wrong side of the road hit his motorcycle near Aya Nagar border on Aug 4 and fled.The victim, Jitendra Kumar, registered a case against the driver at DLF Phase-I police station under sections 125(B) and 281 of the BNS on Sunday, nearly 12 days after the accident. Kumar said consultations with the department and family led to a delay in reporting the case.According to the complaint, Kumar was travelling from Aligarh towards Gurgaon on his motorcycle on Aug 4 for personal work. Around 1.25am, a taxi came from the wrong side and collided head-on with his motorcycle near Aya Nagar border.The impact damaged both vehicles and left Kumar injured on the road. The taxi driver fled the spot.Kumar informed his brother and senior SSB officer about the accident on the phone. A police head constable soon reached the spot, seized the damaged vehicles and took them to the police station using a private crane.Kumar was taken to ISIC Multispeciality Hospital in Vasant Kunj for treatment by police with the help of his colleagues.Later, police obtained Kumar’s medico-legal case. However, Kumar requested time to file a detailed complaint and registered the case against the driver at the police station on Aug 16.Police are investigating the matter further to trace the accused driver.
