Gurgaon STF arrests Bawariya gang member carrying Rs 55,000 reward

Gurgaon: A wanted member of the Bawariya gang was arrested by the Special Task Force (STF), Gurgaon Central Unit, in Bhiwani on Thursday night.The accused, Dhara Singh, carried a reward of Rs 55,000. Dhara, a native of Raipur Bangar village in Mathura, had been evading arrest for a long time by frequently changing his hideouts. An officer said, “He had been staying in Jui village of Bhiwani while concealing his identity.”UP Police announced a reward of Rs 5,000 for his arrest, while Haryana Police placed a reward of Rs 50,000 on him. “Several cases of dacoity, robbery, theft and offences involving illegal weapons are registered against him in the two states,” the police officer said.According to officials, Dhara was associated with Bawariya gang, whose armed members would allegedly enter houses at night, hold residents hostage or threaten them and flee with cash, gold and silver jewellery.Police said two other members of the gang had been killed in encounters with UP Police. Following the deaths of his associates, Dhara remained on the run and continued to evade arrest.The STF had been tracking him for some time using technical surveillance, mobile location details and intelligence inputs. Acting on a tip-off, a team conducted a raid in Bhiwani on Thursday night and surrounded Dhara.After his arrest, the STF conducted preliminary questioning before handing him over to the police for further legal action.
