BHIWADI: An 18-year-old woman who police said had threatened to expose those allegedly sexually exploiting her was murdered by her boyfriend in Alwar district, who then left her body outside a wild animal’s den in an attempt to have it eaten and destroy evidence, police said.The accused, identified as Mohammad Sagar Ali alias Shahbaz, was arrested from Saharsa in Bihar by Phoolbagh police in connection with the murder of the woman, a resident of Ajit Colony in Khairthal.According to police, the woman had been allegedly subjected to sexual exploitation by several people and had decided to expose them. Investigators said the accused feared that her disclosure could also implicate him.Woman went missing on June 19The woman, originally from Siwan in Bihar, had been living with her mother in Alampur, Bhiwadi. Her mother reported her missing on June 19, 2026, after the woman’s mobile phone was switched off and her boyfriend allegedly failed to provide information about her whereabouts.Three days after she went missing, her badly decomposed body was found on a hill near Suraj Cinema. Her face had been disfigured, police said.Bhiwadi SHO Sachin Sharma said the woman’s mother subsequently identified the body.‘Murder was planned to silence her’Police said interrogation of Shahbaz revealed that the woman had allegedly been facing sexual exploitation by several people.According to investigators, a friend of her mother had allegedly sexually abused her on multiple occasions. Police also alleged that her mother forced her to marry her maternal uncle, leaving the woman deeply distressed.The woman was also allegedly being sexually exploited by Shahbaz and others, police said.Investigators said she had begun threatening to expose those allegedly involved. Police suspect that this prompted Shahbaz and his associate to plan her murder.According to police, the two allegedly took her to a hill on some pretext and killed her by hitting her head with a stone.Body left as bait for wild animalsIn an attempt to conceal the crime, the accused allegedly went a step further.Police said the woman’s body was allegedly placed in front of a wild animal’s den, so that animals would feed on the remains and destroy evidence of the killing.The alleged plan was to make the body disappear and prevent investigators from finding clues linking the accused to the murder.7,500-km chase across six statesThe arrest followed an extensive search operation, police said.Three police teams pursued the accused across Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar, covering around 7,500km while tracking his movements.Investigators examined CCTV footage from hundreds of locations and used the cyber cell to follow leads.Police said the accused realised that investigators were tracking him and repeatedly changed locations to evade arrest.The breakthrough came after police began keeping watch on the suspect’s relatives and family members. Investigators eventually traced him to Saharsa in Bihar, where he was arrested.Police are now questioning Shahbaz to establish the exact role of his alleged accomplice and investigate other aspects of the murder.Police allegations are based on the accused’s interrogation and remain subject to further investigation.
