Mumbai: From a solid 1kg gold bar to cricket bats and stylish two-wheelers, the devout poured their hearts and riches into their offerings to Mumbai’s favourite deity this year. On Wednesday evening, the Lalbaugcha Raja Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal put a spectacular array of gold, silver and high-value items donated during the festival up for its annual public auction.The marquee attraction among the offerings was a 1kg gold bar, alongside an exquisitely crafted photo frame of Lord Ganesha finished with gold lamination. The gold inventory also featured over 30 delicate gold chains, a majestic mukut (crown) and intricate long garlands crafted in both gold and silver.Devotees showed equal fervour through unique silver donations, which included a miniature veena dedicated to Sant Tukaram, multiple heavy silver gadaas (maces) of Lord Hanuman, traditional silver modaks and a detailed relief photo frame of Kolhapur’s Ambabai Mahalakshmi.Beyond precious metals, the auction block showcased modern items reflecting personal vows and gratitude, including two brand-new two-wheelers—a TVS Apache RTX and a TVS Ronin—along with cricket bats left at the feet of Bappa.
