CBI arrests Mamata Banerjee’s aide Anubrata Mondal in 2020 cattle smuggling case

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee’s close aide and TMC’s Birbhum district president testosterone cypionate stack Anubrata Mondal was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in a 2020 cattle smuggling case. He was arrested from his residence in Birbhum district on Thursday, August 11.

On Thursday morning, the CBI showed up at his Bolpur residence in Birbhum district. They were accompanied by a convoy of 30 cars. The CBI locked him in and questioned him for more than one-and-a-half hours before picking him up from his stronghold, Birbhum. He will undergo a medical examination soon.

A massive crowd gathered outside his house as he was whisked away by the probe agency. He is likely to be produced at the Asansol court later in the day.

Mondal’s arrest comes days after TMC leader Partha Chatterjee was arrested in the teacher job scam.

The central probe agency had summoned Mondal 10 times before picking him up, but he did not appear citing health issues. He had earlier been questioned twice by the central agency as part of its investigation into the cattle smuggling case. The arrest was carried out after Kolkata’s SSKM Hospital said he did not require admission.

His name came up in the cattle smuggling scam case after the CBI registered an FIR in 2020. According to the CBI, between 2015 and 2017, over 20,000 cattle heads had been seized by the Border security force as they were being smuggled across the border.

The CBI has in the recent past conducted raids at various locations in the district in connection with the cattle smuggling case. Mondal’s bodyguard Saigal Hossain has also been arrested by the probe agency.
