No water supply for days in tail-end areas in Gurgaon, 600 families left high and dry
Residents said they have repeatedly raised the issue, but the problem had continued

Gurgaon: Residents across several areas have said muddy water has been reaching their homes through taps for nearly 15 days, while some have flagged a foul smell in the water supply.Residents of areas including sectors 21, 22A, 22B, 23, 23A, Carterpuri, Dundahera and Molehera said the problem has raised concerns about the quality and safety of drinking water, particularly as the affected areas receive water through the same pipeline carrying treated water from the Basai water treatment plant towards Sector 21 and adjoining sectors.Neeru Yadav, president of the Sector 23A RWA (East Zone), said residents had repeatedly raised the issue but the problem had continued. “For nearly 15 days, we have been receiving dirty and, on some days, foul-smelling water. When such water continues to come through the taps, residents naturally worry about possible contamination and the risk of falling ill. We have bought bottled water for drinking and cooking. We need the authorities to check the pipeline and identify the source of the problem instead of simply assuring residents that everything is fine,” she said.Kundan Lal Sharma, general secretary of the Sector 21 RWA, said the issue was not limited to one locality and needed to be examined. “Initially, we suspected contamination arising from ongoing MCG works and escalated the matter with them to get it rectified. However, the problem persisted, and then we got to know that other areas were also facing a similar issue. If multiple sectors connected to the same supply line are experiencing the same problem, the authorities should investigate the common pipeline and distribution system. Residents should not have to depend on visual inspection of the water to know whether it is safe for consumption,” he said.Meanwhile, a senior MCG official said, “After the complaints, we have inspected the supply network. As of now, there is no issue in the MCG’s water supply network. There seems to be an issue with main supply from GMDA”However, a GMDA official said, “We have checked TDS, chlorine water colour at our inlet of MCG boosters, which is all found within parameters. Issue perhaps in internal distribution.”
